The Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) has, since its establishment 50 years ago, developed to be the major national scientific institution devoted for R & D in the peaceful applications of Atomic Energy. The EAEA spared no effort, from the mid – fifties to train scientists in the topmost universities and research institutes in the world and to acquire R&D facilities in basic and applied nuclear research.
EAEA is divided into four research centres.These four centres are subdivided into major research divisions. This is illustrated in the EAEA organization chart.
Through the integrated and concerted planning between these centres, the activities of the EAEA run into four major fields:
- Research and technological projects.

At present more than 1400 highly qualified academic scientists in various fields of nuclear science and engineering, supported by about 2300 technical staff, 1300 administrative staff, represent the driving force for R & D in the nuclear science and technology. The EAEA is also privileged to have a highly qualified and experienced staff, some of whom are holding key positions in the International Atomic Energy Agency and other regional and international organizations.The EAEA shall continue to assume her national role in promoting the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology for the welfare of the Egyptian people.
